Environmental Management Basic Policy of Toshiba Corporation Power Systems Company |

The Toshiba Corporation Power Systems Company contributes to society by:
supplying system products such as efficient thermal/hydro power systems, fuel cells for domestic, and power generating systems with renewable new energy in addition to nuclear power systems emitting no carbon dioxide, to promote the prevention of global warming actively;
developing environmental conscious products; and reducing the environmental load in product manufacturing processes.
Recognizing the Earth as an irreplaceable asset and the duty of humankind to hand it over to future generations in a sound state, the Power Systems Company helps develop a sustainable society by pursuing the creation of a "Stable supply of energy" and the "Establishment of a better global environment in accordance with the Toshiba Group’s Environmental Vision.
- We consider environmental stewardship to be one of management’s primary responsibilities and promote environmental activities in harmony with economic activities.
- In terms of the environmental aspects of our activities for supplying energy devices, we evaluate environmental impacts as well as trying to reduce the environmental load and prevent contamination. We continuously improve the environmental management system in order to qualitatively enhance the environmental management.
- We perform the following activities for energy-related products and systems in phases from development design to maintenance services, to help prevent global warming and reduce the environmental load throughout product life cycles.
- (1) Developing the following efficient power generating devices and systems as well as new energy devices, which help prevent global warming:
- Safe and efficient nuclear power generation;
- Efficient thermal power generation, thermal power generation emitting no carbon dioxide achieved by the separation and recovery of carbon dioxide;
- Power generation using renewable energy such as hydraulic power, geothermal heat, and wind power;
- Fuel cells for domestic with high power generation efficiency that emit smaller amounts of carbon dioxide.
- (2) Saving resources and energy by reducing and miniaturizing the materials used for products and systems and improving their performance
- (3) Promoting 3R by adopting long-life recyclable parts and developing materials and technologies for the same
- (4) Properly controlling chemicals and reducing their emissions; replacing materials with those with a lower environmental load
- (5) Reducing emissions of materials causing global warming and waste in production processes
- (6) Eliminating the causes of environmental risks and accidents by performing “visible control” with 5S.
- We comply with our company regulations concerning environmental aspects and guidelines and voluntary industry standards to which our company has agreed.
- We raise the awareness of persons working in or for the organization and their family members, and engage in environmental activities together. In addition, we are in cooperation with communities and society, and are willing to disclose information and communicate with each other.
