Reasons for Stator Rewinding |

| In general, the dielectric strength level of generator stator winding insulation deteriorates to the safe operating level in around 30 years depending on operating conditions. When the generator reaches this level, some proper refurbishment works are necessary. There is no way to recover the performance of winding insulation perfectly without it's full renewal, So, stator rewinding is necessary for future safe operation, and is the best solution for the generator. |

In the case of water-cooled stator winding, "Wet-heat Deterioration of Insulation" may happen.
It is caused by leakage of cooling water.
If wet-heat deterioration is caused on stator winding insulation, the dielectric strength level of insulation deteriorates remarkably.
In this case, some proper refurbishment works should be done to the generator as soon as possible.
So, stator rewinding is necessary for future safe operation, and is the best solution for the generator. |
