Solid Particle Erosion Protection - SPE-resistant Coating -

  • Increasing the axial clearance between the nozzles and blades will effectively suppress the particle rebounding / striking mechanism
  • Combining this modification with SPE-resistant chromium carbide coating on the exit suction surface of the nozzle will practically eliminate the SPE problem
  • A significant heat rate benefit will be provided by the sustained efficiency available from the SPE-resistant nozzle diaphragm
