Meet our new hire
Elaine
Hello, my name is Elaine and I am from the Philippines.
I first heard about EBSS in February 2019, when three company representatives traveled around 240 kilometers from Tokyo to Niigata to recruit foreign students like me. After graduating with a master’s degree in E-Business Management from the International University of Japan, as well as several rounds of in-person and online interviews, I was fortunate enough to join EBSS in November 2019.
That year, throughout my transition from being a graduate student to a newly-hired employee, the company offered various types of support. First, I was able to freely ask for advice about different matters, such as the recommended places to live, the visa application process, move-in and move-out procedures, insurance and pension applications, among others. Furthermore, the company encouraged me to improve my Japanese language skills so that I can communicate with my officemates more smoothly. I was enrolled in a short language program course before I officially entered EBSS.
Since then, I have had a good experience working in this company. I can summarize the best things about EBSS into three things: good relationships, work adaptability, and a globally Japanese mindset.
First, good relationships in the company are not only limited to professional working relationships, but it includes personal relationships as well. Even if there are senior and junior employees, there is an open communication between everyone, regardless of the position. This greatly contributes to a good working environment.
The next is about work adaptability, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic started. Due to this, it was necessary to transition to a work-from-home arrangement. Because consultants are trained to work anywhere, we were quickly able to adapt to the “new normal”, without sacrificing productivity. We also have a “flexi-time” system, which enables us to manage our working hours based on our personal preferences, with proper due diligence and accountability.
Finally, EBSS’ strength is being a global company with a Japanese heart. This means balancing logical and analytical thinking with open-mindedness to change. In this way, while efficiency and productivity are important, learning from and dealing with stakeholders from all around the world is equally as important.
From the very beginning, EBSS has helped me with life in Tokyo as a consultant, opening many opportunities for self-improvement in my chosen career path. So let’s work and grow together in EBSS!
