Why I joined EBSS
In my previous job, I was engaged in Supply Chain Management (SCM) domain add-on program development phase of Oracle EBS implementation project. Other than this phase, there are various other phases in the system implementation project. While gaining experiences, I also wanted to be involved in Requirements Definition phase which consolidates "What is important and how to achieve it" with actual users.
After joining the company, I participated in the system implementation project that I have always wanted to try for a long time from the initial phase. I also got opportunity to engage from Requirement Definition phase until going live of system. Moreover, the company also let me handle overseas projects. I feel that I was able to change my job to a very comfortable environment.
Current my tasks and what is a work at the overseas
Even before joining the company, I already knew that EBSS is strong in overseas project. I had no experience with overseas project at all, so I thought "I wish someday I get that opportunity". After joning EBSS, as the range of work gradually expanded, the opportunities for business trips to the Asian region have increased over the past several years.
When you hear such story, you may think "EBSS may not hire people without high level of language skill". By nature, I was not the type of person who travels overseas, and honestly I did not have much language skill. Nevertheless, I am now in charge of overseas project because I had basic skills and knowledge such as the business operational knowledge that I gained so far, understanding on Oracle EBS function, identifying gap in the system implementation, the way of thinking to countermeasure to gap, etc.
In other words, it is possible to communicate with local users, for example by having clear points and preparing English documents in advance. Of course, I often feel that I still need to make more efforts and I also get many helps from team members who have high languages skill. However I want to improve my skill by gaining experiences. So, for those who are not confident with their language skill, I would like you to keep in mind that everything will be fine and please do your best.
One-day time schedule
Although it varies depending on the phase of system implementation, we are basically working with the target of coming to work by 10:00 and leaving office at around 19:30. I often do a full-time service for one project, so there are days when I have meetings with clients all day. Yet, there are also days when I have to be in front of computer all day.
Furthermore, in overseas we basically follow the session schedule of the local users. When business trip has Saturday and Sunday in between, local users planed an event for us at the time. I think that they do that because we have good communication at work, and I really appreciate it.
