First creating a core that will be a strength, then expanding it
In my previous job at a global consulting firm, I had experienced various system implementation projects along with business innovation/improvements and had been engaged in various roles in the implementation of systems in various industries and areas.
Then I wanted to create an area that would be as my core and strength, so I decided to expand the technical (infrastructure/DBA) area of Oracle EBS, which I was working. At the time, I met EBSS which was established as a consulting company specializing in Oracle EBS, and decided to change jobs.
While working on the EBS implementation project at EBSS, I had also served as the SIG (Special Interest Group) chairman of the Oracle Applications Users Group for a long time, expanding my experience and knowledge. In addition to EBS, I have expanded the scope of my work to general infrastructure consulting and PMO. What is required of IT consultants has changed with the times, and we would like to grow so that we can respond flexibly in the future.
Be conscious of not only the happiness of the customer, but also the happiness of the customer's customer
As a consultant, I think it's basic, but I try to think first about what the customer wants and expects. Also, even if the customer says a thing, what the customer expects is always different depending on the person's position, background, and situation, so I try to identify the essence and respond accordingly.
It is also important to be conscious of the people beyond the customer. Even if you make a proposal that meets the customer's needs, it cannot be said that the proposal was successful if the customer’s customer does not want it. I think it is important to have daily communication, to think deeply, and to be proactive.
When working as a team, it is also important who approaches whom at what timing. I always try to act with the recipient in mind.
Work Life Balance
Consultants are required to make output within a limited time. (I think it's not only required for consultants, but I think consultants tend to be particularly required to this.) We need to always be aware of deadlines, focus, and maximize our performance.
For that reason, it is essential to be healthy both physically and mentally, and especially these days, I feel that being healthy is more important year by year.
I like to play sports, so on weekends I go jogging, play soccer, tennis, and golf, and in the evenings, I enjoy drinking and relaxing to maintain my health and vitality.
